Napheesa Collier, the 2019 WNBA Rookie of the Year, is a professional basketball forward for the Minnesota Lynx. Collier took the WNBA by storm in her rookie season in which she was also named a 2019 WNBA All-Star (the only rookie to make the All-Star roster). Her collegiate career at UConn was equally as impressive. Napheesa’s accolades included 2019 AAC Defensive Player of the Year, 2x AAC Player of the Year (2019, 2017), 2019 AAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and 2019 Katrina McClain Award winner amongst many others. Internationally, Collier won gold medals at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship, 2014 Youth Olympic Games and 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, holding an all-time record of 28-0 in USA Basketball games. Both on and off the court, Collier is known for her selflessness and giving nature. A true team player, Napheesa enjoys supporting Eagles Wings, an organization that provides new clothing and essentials to children in need, and spending time with her teammates away from basketball, whether it’s going to the movies or playing fun, team games. Personally, she enjoys yoga classes, which help with her flexibility, boxing classes, which sharpen her footwork, and reading, especially mystery novels.
