Arike Ogunbowale is a professional basketball player who was selected No. 5 overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA Draft. In her rookie season, Ogunbowale made a strong campaign for WNBA Rookie of the Year and finished the season as a finalist for the award. Ogunbowale was selected by the Wings out of Notre Dame where she had a historic basketball career. With one second left in overtime vs UConn in the 2018 National Semifinal, Arike delivered the dagger that gave the Irish a 91-89 win. Then, in the 2018 National Championship game, Arike hit another buzzer beater off of an in-bounds play near the team bench to win the title against Miss State. With her impressive performance in the NCAA Tournament, Arike was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player. Internationally, Arike has competed with USA Basketball on multiple levels and has accumulated five USA Basketball medals (four gold and one silver). She has been nominated for ESPYs (2018, 2019) and took home one of those ESPY nominations for her buzzer beater to win the NCAA title.
