Black Lives Matter Logo Highlighted on Top Seed Open Tennis Courts and Throughout the Tournament Venue
Octagon Tennis partnered with the WTA and Top Seed Tennis Club to debut the inaugural Top Seed Open, August 10-16, at the Top Seed Tennis Club in Lexington, KY. The WTA International event marked the return of women’s professional tennis in the United States, following a five-month hiatus due to the Global COVID-19 pandemic, and featured more than 32 of the world’s best players, including Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Victoria Azarenka, Garbiñe Muguruza, and Coco Gauff, among many others.
Octagon is committed to the priority of equality and inclusion throughout everything we do as an organization. As such, Octagon worked directly with the WTA and the Top Seed Tennis Club to feature Black Lives Matter signage on all courts during the tournament, as well as throughout the venue, in an effort to continue to promote the important conversation surrounding social justice and ending systemic racism around the world.
Telecast on the Tennis Channel in the United States, and distributed globally, Top Seed Open coverage reached more than 80 international markets worldwide.
