Consulting Partnership to Include Media Rights Valuation, Sales and International Distribution for CPBC Leagues, Teams and Caribbean World Series

STAMFORD, Conn. - December 16, 2019 - Octagon Worldwide and the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CPBC) today announced an exclusive partnership, in which Octagon’s Global Media Rights Consulting division will advise the confederation on its media rights valuation, as well as develop a long-term content distribution and event management strategy.

As part of the agreement, Octagon will provide the CPBC comprehensive rights packaging strategy, sales strategy, and rights negotiation counsel for its robust collection of leagues and teams, as well as the Serie del Caribe, commonly referred to as the Caribbean World Series. The penultimate winter baseball event, the Serie del Caribe features the top baseball teams across Latin America.

Octagon will work directly with confederation executives and team owners across Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico to secure and amplify media distribution opportunities, while also providing consulting focused on CPBC event scheduling and formatting.

“There’s no bigger baseball event during the off-season than the Serie del Caribe.  With over 30% of today’s top MLB talent hailing from Latin America, and a rapidly growing Latin fanbase, the potential for the Serie del Caribe can only rise.” said Daniel Cohen, Senior Vice President, Global Media Rights Consulting, Octagon. “Octagon is excited to work with the CPBC and provide our expertise in media rights and distribution strategy, to help take the confederation, its teams, and players to new levels.”

“We are delighted to work with Octagon to further amplify exposure of the confederation, and our world class leagues," said Juan Francisco Puello, Commissioner, CPBC. “Octagon is a recognized worldwide leader in international sports media consulting. We’re looking forward to working with them to bring our leagues and our games to new audiences around the world.”

Led by Commissioner Puello, the CPBC oversees the Professional Baseball Winter Leagues of Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. In addition, the confederation annually hosts the Caribbean World Series (Serie del Caribe), the highest tournament for professional baseball teams in Latin America, and has invited teams from Cuba and Panama to participate as well. Octagon and the CPBC will explore all potential opportunities to grow the level of play, further develop revenue growth, and increase the Serie del Caribe’s distribution.
