OCTAGON LAUNCHES GLOBAL MEDIA RIGHTS CONSULTING DIVISION LED BY DANIEL COHENPress Releases, Media Rights, Daniel Cohen
STAMFORD, CT (August 7, 2017) – Octagon, the sports and entertainment marketing leader, announces the launch of the agency’s global Media Rights Consulting practice. The new group will provide strategic consultation to major domestic and international rights holders, broadcasters, emerging distribution platforms and the sports investment community.
Octagon’s media advisory services will leverage the strength of the Octagon network and the analytics of IPG’s Futures Sport & Entertainment to advise clients on the valuation and optimization of content assets across linear TV, digital and OTT platforms.
The new offering will be led by sports media executive Daniel Cohen who will serve as SVP, Octagon Media Rights Consulting. Most recently with MP & Silva as Managing Partner, SVP, Americas, Cohen was responsible for further developing the agency’s strategic media rights services across the region. Prior to that, Cohen was SVP, Business Development and Sales for Bloomberg Sports where he played a critical role in the growth and sale of Bloomberg Sports to Vista Equity/STATS. Cohen will report to Octagon’s Chief Strategy Officer Simon Wardle, and he will be based in Octagon’s New York office.
“Everyone from the largest rightsholders to niche properties, established social media platforms to digital start-ups, and VR companies to VC investors are trying to figure out what’s next in the rapidly evolving media space,” said Octagon CSO Simon Wardle. “By providing a data-based end-to-end solution, Daniel and his team can help all of these constituents evaluate content and drive value across broadcast and digital platforms.”
“Our unique approach will be grounded in IPG and Octagon’s proprietary data, research, analytics, and technology. When combined with our consulting services and vast media network, we will ensure the value of our clients’ content is maximized,” said Cohen, SVP Octagon Media Rights Consulting. “The end goal is to help our clients understand shifting fan consumption patterns and the ever-changing media landscape.”
Octagon’s Media Rights Consulting group views leagues, governing bodies, teams, traditional broadcasters, digital platforms, content creators, telecom companies, OTT providers and media buyers as prospective clients, as well as private equity firms, venture capital firms, and technology companies.
