In Case You Missed It – The week's top stories from the #OctagonFamily.
Golf World: In June, Xander Schauffele survived a five-for-two playoff to qualify for the U.S. Open. The following month, he birdied the 72nd hole at the Greenbrier to win by one. Last week outside Chicago, he made four birdies and an eagle over his last six holes to tie for 20th to survive and advance in the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Playoffs.
The 23-year-old was only a rookie on the PGA Tour this year and already developing a reputation as being awfully clutch.
Sunday, he only enhanced his stature. Schauffele rallied to win the season-ending Tour Championship, curling in a short birdie putt on the par-5 18th to cap a final-round two-under 68 to win by one over Justin Thomas.
Bloomberg: Doosan Group, the oldest business organization in South Korea, is looking to raise its profile in the U.S. To do so, the Seoul-based conglomerate is teaming up with ‘America’s Pastime.’ For the next four years, Doosan will advertise throughout the Major League Baseball playoffs, put up signs in MLB stadiums, and sponsor baseball’s live Facebook content. It will also be the presenting sponsor of the American League Divisional Series, the first time baseball has sold a first-round playoff series. “Any place you see the games, you’re going to see them,” said Noah Garden, baseball’s executive vice president of business.
Octagon Blog: Creative Strategist Catherine Wright examines key trends, technology, and innovations across the culinary space in a new series titled 'Cate's Culinary Update'. She kicks off the first installment with the Experiencing Food: VR trend. Cate notes, "When it comes to food, VR can lend a hand in building more immersive experiences that enhance flavor. The story behind food is in large part what makes a meal great. VR can show where food comes from, who makes it, and its sources in nature."
